Kuala Lumpur- UMNO will issue membership card only to members who have registered as voters beginning next year.
According to UMNO Executive Secretary, Brg. Jen. (R) Datuk Paduka Husainay Hashim, the party has some 3.2 million members of whom about 600,000 have yet to register as voters.
The UMNO membership cards will have a feature allowing members to garner points from shopping at a network of supermarkets in the country.
In July 2005, UMNO and I-Cash Global Rewards Sdn Bhd signed an agreement to give cardholders certain privileges, including points, when they shop at outlets registered with the company.
